It was Cat’s birthday on 24th. We had a small party at home. Aunt Renu baked a cake and I made some chocolate chip cookies. We couldn’t invite anyone because it was Rahul’s gig later in the evening. Their band was playing in some college in the city and we couldn’t miss it. This was my first time at his concert and meeting the entire band together. They are a bunch of great kids with amazing energy. You could see that when they were playing on the stage. Although I was finding it hilarious because they all looked the same – Long hair and a little beard just below the chin. They looked like Shaun the Sheep and his gang. Obviously, Rahul is Shaun. So they played Beatles songs. The crowd went berserk. I don’t know if it was them, Beatles or the crowd, but it was electrifying. I could understand my state because I grew up with Beatles at home – Mom is a huge fan. But it had the same effect on everyone. I can still here ‘Something’ from the album ‘Abbey Road’ resonating in my ears. Abbey Studio is on Abbey Road where they recorded most of their music.
Besides Rahul’s gig, the weekend was quite eventful. We went to the mountains for the weekend. It was a good break from the smoldering heat here. It’s unbelievably hot here and they say it’s the hottest summer ever. Seems like global warming is taking its toll around the world, because Stephanie was telling me it’s abnormally hot in Portland as well and they are going to buy air conditioners this time. I almost melted there last summer. We might not know but the things we do every day contribute a little to what is happening in the world today. I sometimes feel scared of what tomorrow lies for us. But then isn’t it us who are responsible. Some one has very nicely explained this whole concept and how we can help to save earth.
